Teens Sports League is a nationwide competition dedicated to all pre-university students and teachers. The competition will take place between primary, middle and high schools in Romania, formed into project teams, eager to be part of the national movement promoting healthy living in the long term.
Project timeframe: Jan - Dec 2024
To create an infrastructure of progressive, locally-formed school teams willing to work together to increase the educational value of sport, physical movement and leisure activities for young people in schools and communities across Romania.
The #TeensSportsLeague will provide relevant and inspirational information, educational content to reinforce sport-related values, support and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities that can be easily practiced.
#TeensSportsLeague aims to facilitate the involvement of young people from local schools and communities, both urban and rural and/or disadvantaged areas, to raise awareness of the need for a more active lifestyle, to engage in activities centered on sport and movement, to shape their lives in a healthy way in the long-term.
To contribute to an increase in the number of young people who reflect on their lifestyle, who are willing to change their dysfunctional habits and who are willing to start regular physical and sports activities, wellbeing and leisure, on a long-term basis.
In the first edition, we propose to target 10 communities where Decathlon already has stores, increasing the number of schools and communities in future editions.
We are targeting all pupils, parents (?) and teachers, nationwide.
We promote gender equality and facilitate access to as many audiences as possible, including young people with different disabilities: visual, hearing, mobility etc.
The importance of a routine for regular exercise from an early age
Development of bone and muscle strength
Development of cardiovascular capacity
Maintenance of the optimal body mass index (ideal body weight for a given height)
Learning of the importance of proper nutrition and improving nutritional habits
Reducing the risk of illness
Managing and reducing stress, especially in adolescence
In order to join the funding competition, it will be essential that students and teachers in their school work in teams, to create a project plan that addresses real and specific needs, centered on sport, healthy living and good nutrition for the students and young people in their school.
In order for the project to become a reality, the teams will need funding. So, at some point, the teams will present their project plan to a panel of judges who will decide on a grant. The projects will also receive votes from the ecosystem.
Four grants will be awarded in the national competition, worth €10,000, €7,000, €5,000 and €3,000 respectively. In addition, 100 prizes will be up for grabs, consisting of sports kits for schools.
4 projects will be eligible for funding and in order to qualify, the teams set up must meet specific criteria, which we will announce in the promotion campaign.

The planned events and workshops aim to inform them, encourage the exchange of ideas, bring a touch of innovation and inspiration and invite young people to think about projects that promote health, spending time in nature and regular sport and movement.
Teens Sports League Academy
Scientifically, when people exercise, they are happier because the human body releases endorphins. These naturally discharged chemicals improve our mood, reduce stress, relieve feelings of anxiety and depression, boost self-esteem and help us rest better. This is the only way we become happier, more positive and more relaxed every day.
Purpose of the Teens Sports League Academy
To train students and young people to learn how to challenge their limiting assumptions about sport and physical movement, get to see themselves as they really are, and learn to identify their own developmental potential from a completely new perspective.
Teens Sports League Academy objectives
To encourage higher-level thinking and creativity through information about the benefits of sport and physical movement across the entire lifespan.
To promote the importance of developing one's own value system, which guides the individual through childhood, adolescence and into adulthood.
Young people understand the challenges of the lack of exercise, stress and unhealthy eating on general health and how these influence their perceived happiness.
Young people learn to face the failures and obstacles they encounter without seeing them as a negative reflection of themselves, but rather as challenges that can be overcome.
Young people engage in activities that support them in their own lifelong behavior and change efforts.
Young people to identify their level of development of relevant skills and abilities needed to participate in a particular sport or preference for a particular type of physical movement.
Young people realize that learning a new skill is a great way to build self-confidence, and doing it as part of a team where their own success leads to more success for those around them only boosts that self-confidence.
